Heyy Reader,

I'm a big goal setter. Every year, I take a few weeks at the end of the previous year and the beginning of the new year to map out what I want to accomplish in the new year. But I don't just stop there. I frequently revisit these goals and check on the progress I've made toward them. Then I adjust my goals based on what is going well, what isn't, and anything else I'd like to accomplish.

Normally, I set very realistic goals. I once read a book (I think about weight loss and healthy eating habits) that talked about how if you even reach 70% of your goal, you should consider yourself successful.

That really stuck with me.

So now, instead of trying to be perfect and reach everything 100%, I decide ahead of time what would make me feel successful meeting each goal, what would be best-case scenario, and what would be unbelievably amazing. I work hard to reach the unbelievably amazing, but if I reach that "successful" goal, I feel fulfilled and don't allow myself to agonize over it. I acknowledge everything I did to make it to where I am and allow myself to feel pride.

I hope as we get farther into the new year, you allow yourself to feel pride in your accomplishments and what you are achieving in your business. It's not easy and you deserve to be celebrated.

Hit reply and tell me what you're celebrating this week so I can celebrate with you!

Kanban is perfect for creatives because it gives a clear visual overview of your work, helping you stay focused and keeps distractions at bay. It's also my favorite way to stay organized. Check out Kanban tools also known as Boards on Trello, Asana, and ClickUp.

THE ONE HOUR WIN

YOUR TO DO LIST CALLED - IT NEEDS HELP!

Right now, your to-do list is probably just a messy pile of everything. No wonder it feels overwhelming. Now, don't feel bad cause there's a solution. The Eisenhower Matrix - a simple system that helps you sort tasks by what actually matters will deal with this problem.

Here's how it works - draw a big cross on a page to create 4 squares. Label them and group each to-do into the category that best suits them.

  • Urgent and Important: Do it now or ASAP.

  • Important, Not Urgent: Schedule it. Could be projects with long term plans.

  • Urgent, Not Important: Yeah, it's about time you delegate those. You can't just do it all by yourself to avoid that burnout we all hate.

  • Neither: Just delete it. You know it's just taking up space. [I have a secret trick for this one, because deleting things scares me too. I have a Google Doc with ideas that I'v had that are not urgent or important but I don't want to get rid of. I come back to it periodically to see if it still feels like something I want to keep or get rid of. It doesn't clog up my list this way, but it's still there on the back burner in case it feels right someday.]

See, all done within the hour. This method works because it clears the mental clutter. It also helps you prioritize like a pro so you can actually get everything on your list done. You're welcome.

TIME FOR WHAT YOU LOVE

TIME TO BRING BACK YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY

We've been all about business but you got to do you, if you know what I mean. So, I got this question for you. When was the last time you did something just because you enjoyed it?

I'm talking about that hobby you would give almost anything for, but somehow life and work pushed it aside. Well, it's time to live a little and bring it back.

I love me a good movie time. Yours could be painting, knitting, gardening, whipping up a new recipe, or plain old relaxing with a cup of coffee and reading a novel by your favorite author. It's never too late to rediscover those little joys that brightens up our lives. The trick? Make time for them again. Trust me, it's totally worth it.

Just, get on with it and bring that joy back. You never know the journey of rediscovery you could be taking yourself on.

I'm super psyched you're here, Reader! Thanks for reading these emails every week and hanging out with me :}
